Gr. n. mukes – fungus, Gr. neut. n. plasma – formed, N.L. neut. n. Mycoplasma – fungus form; Gr. neut. n.  – blood, L. masc. n. – a deer, N.L. gen. n. – of deer blood (corrected by Oren et al., 2020)
